Frequently Asked Questions
How much do your services cost?
In order to answer this question, we must first examine your pet and assess the situation. The Veterinarian will then make recommendations and discuss treatment plans tailored to you and your pet. Many times, there are multiple options and we will be happy to discuss the pros and cons of each approach, along with the associated costs. We understand unexpected events can have an impact on a family budget, so we do offer financing through Care Credit when needed.
Do you recommend any over the counter supplements or nutraceuticals for pets?
Similar to the question above, some pets will need supplements based on their medical needs, while others may not. Using certain supplements unnecessarily can sometimes do more harm than good. Your Veterinarian will be happy to discuss supplement options as appropriate for your pet.
What type of food or how much food should I feed my pet?
This is always a difficult question to answer, as dietary needs differ among each pet and by lifestyle. The Veterinarian will be happy to discuss customized dietary recommendations and feeding amounts during your pet’s physical exam.
Do you offer boarding or grooming?
We are a medical hospital and are not currently equipped for boarding or grooming at this time. Please see our LIST OF RECOMMENDED FACILITIES
Can I leave my pet in your care (drop off) for the day?
Of course! We love having more time to bond with our Patients! We offer this service by appointment on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings and will schedule you to bring your pet in to be admitted between 8:00am and 9:00am. Upon admission, a Team Member will taek about 10-15 minutes to gather some information about your pet’s condition and will obtain the best phone number to reach you that day. You will receive a phone call once you pet has been examined by the doctor. They will discuss diagnosis and treatment options with you, and decide on a plan of action that works for you and your pet. Our hospital is open until 6:00pm on these days, and your pet is more than welcome to spend the afternoon with us to accommodate your schedule.
Why does my cat need to be in a carrier or my dog need to be on a short/fixed leash at the hospital?
We endeavor to provide the safest and most comfortable environment for all of our Patients and Clients. Even if your pet enjoys the company of other people and animals, some of our other Patients (or Clients) may not: some may be fearful and stressed, some may be sick or painful, and some people may be allergic to your pet. We never know who may affect whom in a negative way, so to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, we must insist that all cats arrive in carriers and all dogs must be on a short/fixed leash.
Is surgery/anesthesia safe for my pet?
Any procedure involving anesthesia involves some risk. We do everything in our power to ensure the safety of your beloved pet. This begins with pre-operative blood screening and continues with careful selection of the most appropriate drugs for your individual pet. Every pet that undergoes anesthesia will have an IV catheter placed for safety and will undergo constant monitoring by our professional Team, using state of the art medical monitoring equipment. Your pet’s safety is our paramount concern.
Can I use the same medication as the last time my pet had this problem?
Sometimes the answer is yes, but PLEASE speak to us first! Sometimes the same medication used on a different problem (that may very well have the same symptoms), can make a condition much worse. Also, if your pet is having the same problem, a different medication may provide better/more permanent results.
Why can’t I just pick up a prescription?
My pet is having the same symptoms as last time? Many ailments have similar symptoms. If the wrong medication is used, your pet may become much worse instead of better. In order to ensure the safety of your pet, a Veterinarian needs to examine your pet and diagnose the condition before prescribing any medication. This is a legal requirement as well.
What is your philosophy regarding pain management?
Our goals are to always keep your pet healthy, happy, and pain free. We strive to make each visit as stress free as possible (for you and your pet) and to minimize discomfort wherever possible. When pain is inevitable, we use a combination of therapies specifically tailored to your pet’s needs. These include: environmental modification (dark room, soft bed, quiet location, etc.), supplements, pain medication, physical therapy, and even TLC to help your pet.
Do you offer any type of payment plans?
Yes we do! Care Credit is a popular financing option that we are happy to provide to those that qualify. Applications can be made in the hospital and approval from the Care Credit company usually occurs within minutes. If you already have a Care Credit account, you are already pre-qualified!
What forms of payment do you accept?
We gladly accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Care Credit. We do not accept checks.
For what types of animals do you provide veterinary services?
We care for cats and dogs at our Hospital. If you have general questions about other species, please explore our INTERACTIVE ANIMAL pages. We are also happy to provide referrals to other Veterinarians in the Atlanta area who specialize in other species.
